The Carbon S Ultraback provides lightness and glove-like support. FAQ – Nidecker Supermatic® Snowboard Bindings

How do Nidecker Supermatic® bindings work?

Nidecker Supermatic® bindings use an automatic rear-entry system. Simply slide your boot in through the open highback and press down with your heel on the pedal to automatically return the highback to its riding position and lock the binding. The straps remain at your previously adjusted tension, so there is no need to readjust them every time you enter the binding.

Do I need special boots for Supermatic® bindings?

No. Nidecker Supermatic® bindings are compatible with virtually all standard snowboard boots available on the market. Nidecker boots are designed to work particularly well with the Supermatic® system, which can provide even smoother entry and exit.

Can Supermatic® bindings only be used as automatic rear-entry bindings?

No. One of the biggest advantages of the Supermatic® system is that it can also be used like a traditional strap binding. The straps can be opened and closed normally using the ratchets. This is especially useful in deep snow, on very steep terrain or whenever conditions make automatic entry more difficult.

Can I adjust the strap tension on Supermatic® bindings?

Yes. The straps should be adjusted in the same way as on traditional snowboard bindings – they should hold the boot securely and comfortably without causing excessive pressure. Once properly adjusted, the tension remains set when using the automatic entry system. Active Strap technology lifts the straps when the highback opens and automatically returns them to their preset position when the binding closes.

Do I need to loosen the straps every time I enter the binding?

No. Once the straps have been properly adjusted, there is no need to open or readjust them every time you enter the binding. When the highback opens, the Active Strap system creates additional space so you can slide your boot in from the rear. When the binding closes, the straps return to their previously adjusted tension.

How should I set up Supermatic® bindings before riding for the first time?

Before using the bindings for the first time, place your boot in the binding and adjust its position and the strap length. The straps should sit centrally over the boot and provide a secure but comfortable fit. For the diagonal Hybrid Strap, the manufacturer recommends leaving approximately one finger width between the boot and the strap to allow smoother entry and exit.

Do Nidecker Supermatic® bindings fit every snowboard?

Supermatic® bindings are equipped with an Offset Multi-Disk that allows mounting on popular insert systems, including 4x4, 4x2 and Burton Channel. Depending on the specific configuration, the included disk may also support mounting on the 3D system.

How do I choose the right size of Nidecker Supermatic® bindings?

The binding size should primarily be selected according to the Nidecker size chart and the size of your snowboard boots. Keep in mind that boots from different brands can have different outer dimensions. If your boot size falls between two binding sizes, the larger size may make entry and exit easier, while the smaller size may provide a more compact fit.

Can I use Supermatic® bindings in deep snow?

Yes. In deep snow, you can use the automatic entry system whenever conditions allow. If necessary, the binding can also be used like a traditional strap binding. The ability to operate the ratchets manually is particularly useful when snow makes the automatic mechanism more difficult to use.

Do Supermatic® bindings work on steep slopes?

Yes. If the terrain or slope angle makes it difficult to enter the binding while standing, you can sit down and use Supermatic® like a traditional strap binding. This means the system does not limit the way you can use the bindings in more challenging terrain.

How do I exit Nidecker Supermatic® bindings?

To exit the binding, press and hold the release lever with your hand while lifting your heel. Do not use your boot to press the release lever, as this makes it more difficult to control the force applied and may damage the mechanism.

What should I do if it is difficult to exit the Supermatic® binding?

First, make sure you are not putting excessive pressure on the highback while releasing the mechanism. Difficulty exiting can also be caused by snow or ice building up inside the mechanism. In that case, remove any snow and ice and try releasing the binding again by hand.

What should I do if the Supermatic® binding does not close properly?

One of the most common reasons for the mechanism not closing properly is a build-up of snow or ice. Before trying again, clean the mechanism and make sure the boot is correctly positioned inside the binding.

Can I adjust the forward lean on Supermatic® bindings?

Yes. Nidecker Supermatic® bindings allow you to adjust the forward lean of the highback. More forward lean can provide a quicker response when riding on edge, while less forward lean creates a more neutral stance. After changing the setting, it is worth checking the strap fit again.

Can the highback on Supermatic® bindings be rotated?

No. Due to the construction of the automatic entry system, highback rotation is not supported. However, you can adjust the forward lean to customize the feel and responsiveness of the binding.

Can the highback on Supermatic® bindings be folded down?

Yes. The highback can be folded forward, making the bindings easier to transport and store, for example in a snowboard bag. For additional space, it may be helpful to loosen or open the straps first.

Do Nidecker Supermatic® bindings require special maintenance?

The bindings should be checked regularly and any snow or ice should be removed from the mechanism. Before riding, it is also worth checking the condition of the screws, straps, ratchets and entry mechanism. Keeping the mechanism clean helps ensure proper operation.

Do Supermatic® bindings ride the same as traditional strap bindings?

Yes. Once the mechanism is closed, Supermatic® works like a traditional snowboard binding with straps. The automatic entry system is primarily designed to make getting into and out of the binding easier without giving up the secure feel and performance of a conventional strap binding.
