Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero Camber Snowboard
Who is it for? The Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero Camber is a snowboard for riders who want one powerful board for the whole mountain – from fast groomers and trees to variable snow and deeper powder days. It is made for intermediate and advanced riders who like directional control, stability, strong edge hold, and the energetic feel of camber.
Freeride character in a daily-driver board
The Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero Camber is one of the most versatile boards in the Family Tree line. It is built for riders who do not want to choose between groomers, powder, and all-mountain riding. The directional shape helps keep the nose floating in softer snow, while Directional Camber delivers pop, control, and reliable edge hold. This makes the Hometown Hero a strong choice for fast groomers, mixed conditions, and natural terrain.
Directional Camber, Freeride Directional Shape, and The Channel®
The Hometown Hero combines Directional Camber with a freeride-focused directional shape and a clear setback. The board feels stable and confident in your natural riding direction, while the taper helps it float better in soft snow and finish turns more smoothly. The 7/10 flex gives strong support for faster riding while keeping enough versatility for everyday all-mountain use. The Channel® mounting system lets you fine-tune stance width, binding angles, and binding position to match your riding style.
Key solutions and benefits
- Directional Camber: directional camber provides strong edge hold, powerful pop, and stability at higher speeds.
- Freeride Directional Shape: directional geometry gives better control in your natural riding direction, quick turn entry, and more confidence in variable terrain.
- 12 mm taper: a wider nose and narrower tail improve float in soft snow and help the board finish turns more smoothly.
- Balanced Freeride Geometry: a freeride-focused geometry designed to add float while keeping the board natural and predictable on firmer snow.
- Super Fly II™ 700G Core: a lightweight wood core that reduces weight while keeping the board lively, snappy, and full of pop.
- Dualzone™ EGD™: engineered wood grain placement along the edges improves edge hold, response, and control.
- 45° Carbon Highlights: carbon reinforcement adds response, energy, and helps reduce overall board weight.
- Sintered WFO Base: a fast sintered base that absorbs wax well and is built for strong riding in different conditions.
- Pro-Tip™: reduced thickness in the tip and tail lowers swing weight and improves maneuverability.
- Infinite Ride™: technology designed to help the board keep its intended flex and pop over time.
- Super Sap® Epoxy: bio-based epoxy used to help reduce the environmental impact of production.
- The Channel®: Burton’s mounting system allows very precise binding adjustment and works with Burton EST®, Burton Re:Flex™, and many bindings from other brands when used with the correct discs.
- 3-year warranty: Burton snowboards with The Channel® mounting system are backed by a 3-year manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions – Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero and The Channel® system
Is the Burton Hometown Hero a good one-board quiver?
Yes, that is the main idea behind this board. The Hometown Hero is a freeride all-mountain board that performs well on groomers, in soft snow, in trees, and in variable conditions. It is not a typical park board, but if you want one strong daily board for the whole mountain, it is a very good choice.
How is the Hometown Hero different from more freestyle-focused boards like the Process?
The Hometown Hero is more directional, more stable, and better suited to freeride and soft snow. The Process is more symmetrical and freestyle-focused. If you mainly want park, switch riding, and tricks, the Process will feel more natural. If you want a faster, stronger board for the whole mountain and powder, the Hometown Hero is the better choice.
Do I need special bindings for the Burton Hometown Hero?
The board uses The Channel® system, so your bindings need to be compatible with it. Burton EST® and Burton Re:Flex™ bindings work very well with The Channel®. Many bindings from other brands also work, but they require the correct Channel-compatible mounting discs.
How is The Channel® different from traditional 4x4 or 2x4 inserts?
The Channel® gives you more freedom to adjust your bindings. Instead of a fixed pattern of insert holes, you get a long mounting channel that makes it easier to fine-tune stance width, binding angles, and your forward or backward binding position. On the Hometown Hero, this is especially useful when adjusting the board for groomers, freeride, or deeper snow.
